Everything You Want to Know Before Your First VI Peel
What a VI Peel is, what the appointment is actually like, how the peeling really goes, and the results you can expect — honest answers before you book.
The VI Peel is one of the newer treatments I offer, and it's the one I'm asked about most. Most people are curious but a little unsure — they've heard "chemical peel" and pictured something dramatic, or they're just not sure whether it's the right tool for what's bothering them. So here's the honest version of everything I'd want to know before booking one.
What it actually is
A VI Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel that works below the surface of your skin to improve tone, texture, and clarity. It's a blend of ingredients that lift existing pigment, encourage your skin to turn over, and support collagen as it heals. The result, once your skin settles, is smoother and more even than before.
It's best suited to sun damage, melasma, uneven tone, rough texture, and the dark marks old breakouts can leave behind — the kind of pigmentation that Botox and filler simply don't touch. If your concern is more about lines or lost volume, I'll tell you honestly that a peel isn't what you need, and we'll talk about what is. It's one of the treatments I'm asked about most at my East Cobb practice.
What the appointment is like
The application itself takes about fifteen minutes. I apply the solution with a single towelette, which is part of why it slips so easily into a Botox or filler visit — a lot of my clients add it to an appointment they were already coming in for. You'll feel some tingling and mild warmth while it's on, and then you're done and on your way. The real work happens quietly over the next several days at home.
How the peeling really goes
This is the part people most want the truth about. The visible peeling usually starts around day three and continues for a few days after. It's manageable and nothing to be afraid of, but it is noticeable — so most people plan their peel with a few low-key days in mind rather than the morning of an event. I'll walk you through exactly how to care for your skin while it sheds so it heals evenly and comfortably. Thankfully, VI Peel also provides a simple aftercare kit (included with the treatment) that comes with everything you need to make the couple of days go super smoothly.
When you'll see results
Your fresh, more even-toned skin usually arrives once the peeling finishes, somewhere around a week to ten days out. Deeper or more stubborn pigmentation can take more than one peel to fully address, and I'd always rather give you a realistic sense of that up front than promise it all disappears in a single visit.
Choosing between the two formulas
I carry two. Precision Plus with Peptides is the one I reach for with pigmentation and sun damage, and the Advanced formula leans more toward aging and texture. You don't need to arrive knowing which is right — choosing between them is part of our conversation, based on what I see in your skin and what you're hoping to change.
Adding a peel to your Botox visit
In most cases this works beautifully, and it's how a lot of people experience their first peel. Because the application is so quick, it pairs naturally with an injectable appointment.
